Part 37: Smoke & Mirrors: The Chiropractic Marketing Misdirection

The number one reason for people to contact me is to help them market their chiropractic practices. Over the decades marketing has become the #1 focus for most small businesses and the practice of chiropractic falls into that category. Everyone is looking for that “magic bullet” which will create a revolving door of new patients into your office. I know because for 20 of my 34 years in practice I to search for that “holy grail” of new patients. Although marketing definitely works I’m here to burst everyone’s bubble and share with you it is not the solution.

In order to market effectively there needs to be a significant expenditure across multiple sections of media to be successful. There are those few situations where 1 marketing piece will create a significant amount of new patients however, that is the exception and not the rule. Beyond the Internet, as a profession we need to look at neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons. It is a rarity to see either disciplines marketing for business. The reason is simple: primary care and the public understand that the specialists resolve significant health problems. As a result the entire populace including medical primary care providers and chiropractors run after these medical specialists through either direct access for referrals. You need to create the same paradigm in your office.

By understanding how the chiropractic adjustment works through the brain connection is the foundation to helping medical primary care providers, medical specialists and the public to realize that chiropractic is the best choice for primary spine care.
